NEW WINE IN OLD WINESKINS (Luke 5:36) And he spake also a simile unto them--`No one a patch of new clothing doth put on old clothing, and if otherwise, the new also doth make a rent, and with the old the patch doth not agree, that is from the new. (Luke 5:37) `And no one doth put new wine into old skins, and if otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins, and itself will be poured out, and the skins will be destroyed; (Luke 5:38) but new wine into new skins is to be put, and both are preserved together; WHICH PARTS OF THE OLD TESTAMENT ARE WE TO OBSERVER LITERALLY When I was a new Christian our church taught that the Old Covenant would never be done away because Jesus didn’t come to destroy the law. (out of context) (Matthew 5:17) Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. But there are some crazy sounding laws in there like: • Shaving beautiful women’s heads • Not eating goats and milk • Giving 10% of your booty to Melchizidek • Killing non Israelites so they don’t become thorns in your flesh • Nailing slaves ears to your door • And so on. • Circumsion on the 8th day • Not eating pork • Eating locusts, crickets, and grashoppers Most churches just focus on the old testaments laws that bring them money and power and ignore the rest so they don’t sound ridiculous Not understanding the parable of the wineskins creates confused church doctrine and a lack of relationship with God. It creates the horrid thing known as “religion”. The old testament where simply physical examples of the spiritual realities that were to come later in the new covenant. Nothing more nothing less it’s that simple. (1 Corinthians 10:11) Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. We had a minister who was a very powerful speaker (human wisdom) who if you didn’t know your scriptures would be misled so easily would say: If the ten commandments are done away then is it okay to murder? Is it okay to commit adultery? Of course not so they’re still in effect. Back then I didn’t know how to response but now I do. The ten commandments were for the flesh. But the new covenant teaches that to even hate is murder (in the spirit) and to lust is adultery (in the spirit). All the old covenant laws were physical kindergarten type illustrations of what was coming in the spirit. A weak understanding of the bible and poor relationship of God mixed with human wisdom are what cause pouring of “new” wine into the old wineskin. Examples: Priesthood of Aaron (old) new Catholics think the Pope picks a man and pours oil on his head. Reality son of Jesus anointed by the Holy Spirit Mormons many wives Patriarchs many wives. Reality God is marrying all nations in Christ. Jehovah’s witnesses believe that the proper pronunciation is secret to knowing God. Reality all who have faith in God will be saved. Holy Spirit speaks all languages. Tithing of booty Abraham – God wants all his precious metals stolen back from Satan and brought back to his storehouse. Tithing of fruit and ranch products – we’re the earth and God wants the fullness of what’s do him the fruit of the sprit. Levites crucified their bodies so have no land. KKK Israelites are white people and should kill non whites. Reality Israel are all who know God is sovering and born of the Spirit. That’s the race part. Every time you pour new wine into Old Wineskins you get religion and far from God. (Colossians 2:8) Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. (Mark 7:1) Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem. (Mark 7:2) And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault. (Mark 7:3) For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands oft, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders. (Mark 7:4) And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables. (Mark 7:5) Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands? (Mark 7:6) He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. (Mark 7:7) Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. (Mark 7:8) For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. (Mark 7:9) And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition. (Mark 7:10) For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death: (Mark 7:11) But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free. (Mark 7:12) And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother; (Mark 7:13) Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
