618 Ministries was formed on 6/18/2004 at 3:33 am which is why we have the name 618.
My wife and I have been Christians for most of our lives.
But after 11 or so years of having only been baptized in water I was pretty bummed out because I didn't feel like I was any better morally than when I first became a Christian.
I definitely didn't have any of the power of the apostles in the book of Acts (not even a tiny amount) and didn't understand most of the bible and what little I questioned got me either kicked out of church of made church leadership angry usually.
I began my Christian life in the World Wide Church of God and got kicked out of there for questioning whether we were under the law of Moses.
So one day back in 2004 I told my wife that I was going to make a deal with God. Either he would make me like a book of Acts Christian or else leave me alone so that I could lead a regular life and do whatever I wanted because I would consider the bible false advertising. I would fast 3 days and at the end of that either I would become a "real" Christian or I was done.
After 1 and 1/2 days of fasting I was sleeping and I felt like I got electrocuted and started speaking in tongues! To this day I speak in many tongues! That night I knew that Jesus showed up in person and baptized me in the Holy Spirit.
If you go to a church that teaches that being baptized in water is the baptism of the Holy Spirit and is clueless about the baptism of fire don't you believe it. You must prove all things not just believe well dressed people with a gift for public speaking! There are 3 distinct baptisms in the New Testament and they're all foreshadowed in the Old Testament.
Since we were baptized in the Holy Spirit, although we're not as potent as the apostles (we've never seen an amputee healed for example), we have seen many miracles and started a home church because we don't fit in doctrinally anywhere we go pretty much it seems. And our bible understanding changed drastically after this event.
My wife was baptized in the Holy Spirit 3 months after I was.
Some of the things that changed almost overnight were these beliefs:
#1) Hell (althought technically that word isn't in the bible) is the fire of God right now burning our old man or "flesh" nature. Anyone who teaches "eternal damnation" has never read the law of Jubilee in Lev 25 and besides 1 Timothy 4:10 says that Jesus saves ALL mankind Especially those that Believe. Look on the site for more details about this.
#2) There are 3 baptisms not just water. And they are water for the Spiritual Birth and forgiveness of sins or washing. Holy Spirit for ministering. And fire for destruction of the flesh.
#3) The Old Covenant is a flesh covenant for the flesh nation of Israel. The New Covenant is a spiritual carbon copy of the Old Covenant for Spiritual Israelites. In other words the 10 commandments don't apply literally to dead people because "dead" people don't murder. So Christians who keep some of the Old and some of the New covenant are mixing the New Wine of the Spirit with the Old Wineskin of the Flesh or the Old Covenant. Don't do it. You won't grow spiritually like this and aren't pleasing anyone except the people who watch you not eat pork and "keep" the Sabbath.
#4) Tithing is a spiritual concept where we are the "earth" and must produce the "fruit" of the Holy Spirit. In other words giving cash to a church is not biblical because only agricultural products were tithed anyway. Get it? God wants Fruit? God want's meat offerings to burn? We produce fruit and are to offer ourselves as living sacrifices to burn our flesh nature or old man on the altar of the cross? It's so obvious! And the first tithe is givinig stolen booty back to God like Abraham. Returning Gold and Silver back to God for his treasury means returning people who are in bondage to false teachings and other bondages and ignorance back to God. Churches that teach tithing money should show where in the New Testament they see this taught. It isn't there.
#5) Christians shouldn't kill so the "just war" concept of killing to protect God's people is lame. If Christians are alive in the Spirit and dead in the flesh shouldn't our warfare be spiritual? Yes! That's what the bible says. Dead people don't kill the living. Only living people can kill the living. And Christians are supposed to be dead in the flesh and alive in the spirit. That's all through the New Testament. We are to bless our enemies and pray for them.
#6) Seeing God. In the bible it says that no man can see God and live. Yet many people saw God and lived. All this means is that no "flesh man" or "old man" can see God and live. Being in God's presence burns up the flesh and leaves the Spirit. That's why whenever people in the bible "see" or "meet" God they get a new name and changed their nature. Abram/Abraham, Jacob/Israel, etc...
There's many more things we've learned so check out the site and see.
And if you ever want a bible based Christian fellowship them by all means come on by.
